Shooting Task 3

Image
Sense Of Space and Sound 3 One influence is this painting from Diebenkorn, It focuses on an object in a room, but with this the room then looks to be really big. It makes the room expand making the object look smaller than it is. For an improvement to our last films, we tried to add some subtle movements to the film. By adding pans and tilts, as well as showing movement within the frame. A little bit like The Grand Budapest Hotel. This film has a lot of movement within the frame, we tried to replicate something like this because sometimes on a still shot people's attentions may drift from what is been shown to them. Here is a clip in the film where the majority of the shots are still -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsGA0drCB2A . Despite it having still shots it is still enjoyable and that is what we tried to do with our film.

Shooting Exercise 2

Short Film:  Click Here The task this time round was to capture various shots. Including wide shots and close up shots. For the sound we had to experiment with Spot FX (close up sound) and Atmos sound to create a short 1 minute piece. The main aim was to research into locations that not many people will know about. Meaning that research was a key part of the task.  I have found that through the use of sound you can pull focus to specific things. For example you can focus on footsteps within a busy atmosphere. We found it very difficult sometimes to shoot some footage and sound due to the weather been rainy. However, to overcome this we made sure to check the weather report and tried to shoot whenever it was clear. To get the best possible outcome. I've also found that sound can help the audience to understand the thing that is being shown to them. However, I believe next time we need to capture more sounds and maybe put more research into the locations. This is beca...

Short Film Review

The short film I have chosen to analyse is : Gas man by Lynne Ramsey.       The main focus of the film I believe is that the dad has to take his children to a Christmas party. When they are walking there, they meet a woman with 2 children, who he then takes to the party also. I believe that all 4 children are to the same father because one of the brothers says to the sister “she looks just like you” from this is believe that all 4 children have the same dad, but are completely unaware of this. This could get the audience to think that maybe the dad had an affair with this lady and had 2 children with her, along with the other lady too. This is further acknowledged when the girls start to argue because they both say “that’s my daddy’s knee” Which to the children’s knowledge this could be a way to start an argument but they don’t actually know that they are sisters and that their dad isn’t being honest to them.         ...

Shooting Exercise 1 - Sense Of Space Experimental

Click Here For Short Film  For this task I took it upon myself to take  the task of recording sounds. One of the main locations that I went to for this task was the moor shopping centre. I chose this location because the ambience of everyone walking past and talking made the recording sound as though it is in a busy area. I learnt that sound is an important aspect of film making. You can have different sounds and still make a video seem more interesting. For example, we recorded a seemingly empty space and placed the busy shopping centre audio over it. It gives a nice contrast of quiet and busy, which could portray many different things. For example, it is similar to the short film ‘Junktopia’ where the location looks very isolated and quiet and the added sound creates an eerie feeling to the images shown to the audience. In contrast towards the end the video reveals lots of cars. Further showing contrast. Here is a picture of one of the locations that I recorded soun...
